Canadian Crisis Line Response Competency Framework for Suicide Prevention

Summary

The Canadian Crisis Line Response Competency Framework for Suicide Prevention was developed by 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline, in collaboration with network partners and responders. It outlines the core skills that responders gain competency in to compassionately and effectively support callers and texters. The Framework also maps the key roles that responders bring to and develop through this work: Professional, Communicator, Advocate and Lifelong Learner. The Competency Framework forms the foundation for education and training on 9-8-8 and informed the development of the National Standard in Crisis and Distress Lines.
